As we drove home from another disappointing new rstaurant tonight (review coming soon), I lamented that we don't get to visit our favorite go to restaurants enough because we're always trying places for the blog. If only there is a way I could kill two birds with one stone. So tell me, what's the place you go to time and time again. Then I can try something new and go for a sure thing.
And just for the record, my go to faves are Sycamore, Olive Cafe, Billiards, and Kampai Alley.
Bengals and Trumans, both because I either lived or worked so close in proximity at one point in time.
ReplyDeleteIts not really CoMo, but I am always so happy with each meal I have at Panera. It might be because I usually go alone or with girlfriends, and that is so much more relaxing than with my toddler in tow.
ReplyDeleteI also have a great lunch always at Bangkok Gardens. Especially if I get the chicken Lahp and a village roll. I've been doing this for almost ten years now and its that good (still).
I've had too many hit or misses at Sophias, Jina Yoo, and other places that are my super favorites for only a short time. Its frustrating to leave a restaurant disappointed (or still hungry!)
Definitely Rio Grande. But with our 3 year old's ever changing food opinions, I'm not sure how long that is going to hold up. Besides having great food, the staff knows us by name and treats us like royalty.
ReplyDeleteI love Kampai Alley too. I've also grown extremely fond of La Taqueria and the new 44 Stone Public House.
ReplyDeleteHow is La Terraza these days? We loved it at the beginning but haven't been for a while.
ReplyDeleteI love La Terraza! We go at least twice a month. The chunky guacamole is the best and the salsa tastes fresh!
ReplyDeleteBuckingham's is our default if we just want a meal out that's delicious, quick (from our perspective), and inexpensive. If we're celebrating something, it's Osaka.
ReplyDeleteSome great new places and dishes to try! Thanks!
ReplyDeletemy go to place in Columbia would have to be Sophias
ReplyDeleteBooches, Sycamore, Uprise, Olive Cafe, Cafe Berlin (breakfast), and Booches.
ReplyDeleteDid I mention Booches?
Flat Branch is our favorite. Although it can be quite a wait, the food is always great. We also really love Broadway Brewery.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried Red and Moe? It's a gourmet pizza place next to the Blue Note. All of their pizzas are made with locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients, and their menu changes all the time. I've seriously never had better gourmet pizza -- and their warmed winter squash salad, if it's still on the menu, is to die for.
ReplyDelete@Laura : I have only been to Flat Branch once because of the wait. I need to find a formula for unbusy times!
ReplyDelete@Gwen: I love Red and Moe. It's just too pricey for the four of us to be able to eat there very often.
Addison's and Flat Branch. I'm not a huge beer person, but Flat Branch's jalapeƱo beer is fab.
ReplyDeleteKostaki's Pizza, George's (which is so basic but "George loves all the ladies"), Flat Branch, and for lunch I love El Rancho. It doesn't help that I work right across the street from El Rancho either.
ReplyDeleteTellers. We tend to walk there once a week or so for dinner. Saturdays, they have a bloody mary special.
ReplyDeleteSky Hi Bar and Grill. The food is really good. The owners are really nice folks.
ReplyDeleteOur go-to places are Flat Branch, Cafe Berlin, Uprise, Heidelberg, El Rancho, Formosa, and Shakespeares. Depending on what our mood and situation is. Flat Branch is by far the place we go to the most. I can't believe you've only been there once! Go on a weekday instead of a weekend, and go early - as early as you can. They have happy hour from 4-6p that gets you 1/2 price beers and usually they are less crowded. I've had, um, everything on the menu so if you need any advice... let me know. :)
ReplyDeleteG&D Steakhouse (by Best Buy), Buckingham's, Bangkok Gardens (highly recommend #25 Saam Ka-Sat), Main Squeeze, Rome and Kostaki's are my go-to places right now. I'm always on the lookout for tv-free restaurants too.
ReplyDeleteWe live close to Mackenzie's (the original) and it's definitely on my list of go-to places. Except we don't go out often enough to actually call it "go-to"! I'm with Cindy: Please tell me of any TV-free restaurants!
ReplyDeleteI am a native, here are my humble opinions:
ReplyDeleteI crave Osaka, Bangkok Gardens (I too get the #25 mentioned above), Buckingham's & Sky Hi Bar & Grill (pizza!).
Just visited 44 Stone and will definitely be back, great beer/booze selection & food!
Pricer: Sycamore, McKenzie's (I prefer the original one north of town)
Overrated, to me: D. Rowe's, Addison's, Flatbranch, Heidelberg (I know, blasphemy!)
Bad experiences: 1839 Taphouse (service and food)
Rocheport: Go to Abigail's, run don't walk
Murry's has been our default restaurant for years and it never disappoints.
ReplyDeleteMurry's, Murry's, Murry's, with a healthy dose of Booches, Tellers, & Sycamore. Before cell phones, I used to get calls at the bar at Murry's, because people knew if they wanted to reach me and I wasn't home, then that was the best place to get in touch ;)
